A cool Skytop factoid — dog sledding was a popular activity up until the 1940s when at that time the dogs were called to duty during World War II. “The government confiscated the team of dogs for the war effort and we never got them back and we just stopped doing it,” said Robert Baldassari of Skytop Lodge.
Today the dogs are back and with all of the snow the Northeast has been getting the sledding is better than ever, and dog-sledding is a great alternative to Skytop’s traditional winter sports activities; skiing, tobogganing, sledding, tubing, ice-skating and more.
